Anyone run into this? When we try to set up a new dispatch, as soon as we select "Set Card Variables" EPDM crashes? Any suggestions?
Hi Eddie, there is an SPR on this (530627).
The workaround is given as follows from the SolidWorks KB:
In order to update a card variable during a state transition using Dispatch the file must first be checked out before the set card variable action is made. After the value is updated the file must be checked back in. Please see attached Dispatch script example showing how to update a card variable. Update the condition with appropriate workflow state name before running the script.
Failing to check out the file before setting the card variable with Dispatch will result in the following error:
"Cannot set card variables for file filename.ext, you must check out the file before this command will run"
Good Morning Prasad,
I appreciate your response however this is occurring inside of the administration tool when are actually creating a dispatch, not running one. As we are building the dispatch from scratch, and we select "Set Card Variables" as a step in the dispatch, EPDM crashes.
Any chance you got an answer to this? It's 3 years later, and I just had the same issue. I tried it in our Test and Prod Vault and both instances crashed.
I recently ran into this problem and was able to fix it by updating the Dispatch Add-in with the newer version from our recent install. I would suggest checking your version of dispatch against your version of Solidworks PDM and update it if it doesn't match.
