I have this quite complex surface part, which I need to turn into solid. Can someone help me with this, because I have ran out of ideas atm.
Can you add your surfacing part for us to look at? Also How thick do you need the part to be and to which side do you want the thickness to occur, top, bottom, equal on both sides?
Cap and shell it.
You can add one surface to close it. Knit the surfaces together by "try form solid". Then you can shell it afterwards if you want to have some thickness.
thicken the surface using the thicken command
I have managed to thicken it by 5mm, but i need it to be complete solid part. The shapes on the edges are bit tricky and my surface modeling skills are not good enough to close it. If someone wants to try I can send the part via email. Just PM me.
can i try to make it a solid part? send me the file firstname.lastname@example.org
Ari, did you make this a solid yet? what version of solidworks are you using?
before you give it a thickness, close the surface with Fill or Planar Surface
Then use knit and select the option Try to make Solid
After this you can shell it, and when all is modelled good it will be perfect
