I currently have an solid works part and was wondering how I could export it as a .obj file. Thanks for the help!
Interesting that this option doesn't exist in SolidWorks '15. .obj files are facet files. You could see if your application can accept STL or WRL files. These too are facet format files and can be imported by a lot of applications if for no other reason but to re-export them as .obj.
Or you can attach a STL to a post and I can convert it for you using Pro|Engineer
Does this helps: Free Solidworks OBJ Exporter v2.0
I tried running the exporter, but it gave me an "Invalid procedure call or argument" in the code when I ran it.
Did you followed the video for setting up the macro?
Yep. I tried it on another SolidWorks part, and it worked. For some reason, it will not work on the part that I want to convert to an obj file though.
Not sure why it doesn't work with other part.
Do you have SOLIDWORKS premium? If yes then try using ScanTo3d to export OBJ.
I have tried the macro and got stuck with it on more comples parts. I use meshlab instead, a opensource software to convert stl to obj. It work nice for the models I tried. Hope it helps!
I concur with Mattias, Meshlab has worked very well for me too.
I used SLDPRT to OBJ: convert sldprt to obj for free online succesfully
