Does it take everyone a long time to login to EPDM?

It takes a solid 20 seconds everyday to get logged into our Vault, so I was curious if this was a typically response time for everyone? I know everyone in our company encounters this along with logging into conference room computers, which is why I'm curious if this is just a standard issue or if we as a company need to adjust something.

Twenty seconds is crazy. 1-2 seconds is typical.

I would start investigating your AD server to see if it is taking a long time to respond,

Are you using "windows Login type" . If yes, try logging in as default "Admin" user. This login always uses "Enterprise PDM login type". If that is fast you may want to try Jeff's suggestion.

  That's a good catch. With automatic cache options it feels like login is delayed ( while system is caching files) . Quite a possible reason.

So we are refreshing the cache during log in and this seems to be the issue. After talking to my VAR, there is an SPR that covers this topic: SPR 763762 - Slow Enterprise PDM login when the option 'Refresh cache during log in' is enable. Turning it off fixed the issue, but this really isn't a long term solution. I'm waiting to hear back from my VAR on a solution, because as far as I can tell it hasn't been fixed in any SP.

  Are you refreshing the entire vault? Is it possible there really is only a subset of the vault you need cached, the login would be faster? I assume the fewer folders you refresh the faster....

  I was refreshing everything at my last employer, we noticed the slow login as well. So then I switched it to only clear/refresh the template folder. I also refreshed our CAM files for punching/laser. Everything else was "work with latest version". That cut down on the login process significantly.

We have and always have been only refreshing our standard templates and design library parts, so it is already down to a handful of folders. I'll look into reducing it even more if I can, but for the most part we already have this minimized.

Craig what do you mean you were refreshing everything? Refreshing everything would take a considerable amount of time wouldn't it?

  I was doing it because of PEBCAK issues to make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy that the vault was working. After the vault grew, people started complaining about the amount of time to get everything, so I scaled it back to only the necessary folders.
