Surface Area of non contact area only

Hi,

In an assembly I can use the property function to get the total surface area.

However how can I get the total surface area of the edges / faces of parts that have no contact with another part.

For example if I have an assembly made of two parts that are welded together to for a Tee then one edge of one plate and part of the face of the second plate are in contact.

I want this area to be excluded for the total surface area.

I am trying to find this so we can work out how much paint would be required to paint the outside of an assembly only.

Thanks
