Thanks Alin unchecking the tangent propagation box did the trick. Hate it when the solutions to my problems are so simple .
A few other suggestions:
1. Would you consider replacing the Dome1 with a C2 Surface-Fill2? For that you need to select edges, no need for creating a sketch.
2. It probably does not matter since you remove that area with a cut, but I would replace Surface-Fill1 with a planar surface. If something is planar... make it so.
