How to add the Add-In of Workgroup PDM in Solidworks ?

Hello everyone,

We are using Workgroup PDM from last week. We are very new to PDM of solidworks. We are having 4-5 computer conneted by LAN. My computer is the main admin for PDM software on the server. Now, the problem is rest of all 3-4 computers have the add-Ins for PDM on the main view port of solidworks (Please see the photo attached). But when I open my solidworks the Add-In is not there.

Can anyone help me out for this ??

I'd install the whole solidworks package in my computer. So, I don't think that I shold re-install the solidworks again. Did something I'm missing for short-out this problem.

Correct Answer

A recent window update (KB3072630) seems to be causing issues related to many things in SOLIDWORKS. So check if your windows has been patched with KB3072630. If yes then uninstall this update and then do a repair install of SOLIDWORKS.

Are you sure you added the PDN Server to your computer and not just the client portion? If you did not, you can add it by going to "control Panel" , find SW, modify install and click thru to the page showing what is to be added. If "Server Products" is not checked, that's likely the cause.

I am having the same problem. this computer was updated from win 8.1 to win10. I re-installed SW 2015 SP4 and still no PDMWorks addin is available. when this computer was Win 8.1 it worked fine. I checked and KB3072630 is not installed, on the win 10 OS at least.

Any thoughts?

Same problem is happening with me, computer updated from windows 7 to windows 10, no Workgroup PDM Add-in is available.

Anyone have a solution for this??

only thing that worked was uninstall and re-install. major PITA. it now works and KB3072630 is not installed on the computer.

Win 10 is not officially supported until SW2015 SP5 or SW2016. From what I see, you are still not using either of those. It may (may not) be that is part of your problem. SW2015 SP5 and SW2016 SP0.1 have now been released for use. You might want to try one of those.
