Hello solidworks community,

For clarity I'm not talking about the "stress intensity" (P1-P3) plots in solidworks, I mean Mode-I (KI) and Mode-II (KII) stress intensity factors.

I have been following a node displacement technique in Rooke and Aliabadi's Numerical Fracture Mechanics (1991), pages 154 and 155 if anyone happens to have the book. However I'm interested to see if anyone here has a technique they know they can rely on, because honestly I'm not getting the best results from the one in this book so far. I think I'm setting myself up for a fall if I don't ask around.

I am wondering the same. I know one can get stress field parameters as *.TXT. Perhaps with them and extrapolating as shown in:

Applied Mechanics of Solids (A.F. Bower) Chapter 9: Modeling Failure -9.3 Elastic fracture mechanics

item 9.3.4 K1 could be calculated?

I´m trying to calculate J integral from FEM simulations I was wondering if SWX could do what you´re asking.
