We just updated to 2015 and it seams since the update I have to zoom way in to pick tangent lines and edges and still miss them a lot.
Just a thought here, run SolidWorks Rx and make sure your graphics driver is up to snuff. Most had to update and this might be the cause.
Thanks for the suggestion, my driver did need an update, but it didn't seam to improve the problem.
Just a couple of places I would take a look at
Thanks John, my settings were pretty close, the only one I noticed made any difference was the "allow selection in HLR and shaded modes" and that just made it select more lines that I didn't want.
The more I am messing with this I am finding that placement of my curser needs to be slightly different depending where you are at on the part. It seems that if the curser is over the part (selecting the top edge of the part) the tip of the curser needs to be over the line and when curser in off the part (selecting the bottom edge of the part) the tip of the curser needs to be just below the line. It just didn't seem like it was nearly as sensitive in earlier versions.
If you're talking about (imaginary) tangent edges, I'd say they were probably made difficult to select intentionally, as it's quite unusual to dimension to them. I dimension a lot of folded sheet-metal and I find myself having to zoom in to make sure I pick the visible edges.
