Hi Dev,
Please tell me which software version of Adobe reader you are using to open that pdf (if you are using adobe) and where is the location of that pdf in your system. As it is working fine in my system here.

You can use a 2D image and you can link to any pdf file. Then you need to PICK the design mode. The Pdf file what ever you linked it will be open while clicking that 2D image in animation mode.

I think this answer will be the correct one.
You define the pdf link in the Composer and work in the design mode. In this case you can define but not test.
in most cases you want to use the link later on in the Player.
To test it in the Composer you have to disable the design mode!
In the Event properties for a part or assembly you can link files, websites, etc to open when a user clicks on a part or custom button you set up. This would work in the Composer Player or from a exported svg file.
If you are talking about just a link directly in your file I am not sure that is possible.
