Please see the attached file. Note the difference in
geometrybetween Coil 1 and Coil 2, pay particular attention to the
'Return'that runs up the center of the coil. Specific to Coil 2, If
youshow the sketch path, you can see that it clearly does not
followthe intended path. I would much rather have the results as
shown inCoil 1, in that it follows the sketch path more accurately.
I have one complication to the 'normal' approach to these types ofcoils, in that a 3D sketch was added. This was with the intentof being able to 'drive' the part through top-down design-with somelimited success I might add, I still have a little 'tweaking' to doto get the finished results that I would like to have. What I don'twant is what happened in Coil 2, the sweep somewhat has a mind ofit's own. I used a base 3D sketch and the Helix, along w/ FitSpline to create the path for the sweep to follow. The path appearsto be accurate, it is just the sweep looks a little off...
On the plus side, the file size and the rebuild time are better forCoil 2 than for Coil 1-could this possibly be a factor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Additionally, anysuggestions as to how I could drive the overall height of the Helixfrom the initial 3D Sketch? I am able to push the OD of the sweepbut not the height. Got any clues?)
Many thanks,
Rhett
