after I down loaded sp5 2015 I get this SOLIDWORKS ERROR COULD NOT LOAD SOLIDWORKS DLL: GDTANALYSISSUPPORT.DLL when I open an assembly or a drawing.
Take a look at this, just posted today...
We have had a few of these issues with customers, as of the 17th of July, SOLIDWORKS were investigating the issues to try and pinpoint the problem .
I would be speculating a bit, but rolling back / un-installing the windows updates from the 15th of July may help to resolve the issue if it is urgent, but personally, I would hang in there and see what SOLIDWORKS find once they have investigated the issue fully.
Can you try the following;
1) Go to windows ‘Start’ > type cmd
2) RMB on ‘cmd.exe’ > select ‘Run as administrator’
3) In windows explorer Navigate to <SW installation folder>, (where sldworks.exe is contained)
4) Drag and drop ‘sldworks.exe’ in command prompt and type” /regserver”. Typically the command would look like "C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp 2015\SOLIDWORKS\sldworks.exe" /regserver
5) Press ‘Enter’ > this will register ‘sldworks.exe’
6) Reconfirm behaviour.
Thank you Steve. This has fixed my problem, but I would like an explanation as to why and what I just did.
This has worked for us too. Thanks very much.
I will mention that this error has only happened on our stations that are running Windows 8.1. All other stations working fine.
The fix above simply re-registers the solidworks .exe file.
Not sure what the exact cause was because the upgrade / install process should normally register / re-register all the components, but when upgrading any software some key components on the system can become improperly registered (or not registered at all). It may be related to recent Microsoft updates (KB3072630) which was a security update that might have stopped the correct registration of components.
Anyway, it is necessary to manually register the processes, which is what the steps above do. Hope this makes sense!
Thank you Steve.
For completeness I am on Windows 7 64bit service pack 1 using Solidworks 2015 SP4. I did NOT have KB3072630 installed, so the error was coming from elsewhere, but the re-register of the application solved my problem immediately.
Thanks Steve, this did the trick for me.
I got this message after installing SW2015 SP4 today. Running the regserver fixed the issue for me. Thanks!
I have the same problem. Message pops up several times for some assemblies.
"Could not load SOLIDWORKS DLL:
I was unable to insert SLDWORKS.exe into the cmd.exe when run as administrator.
I tried it without running it 'as administrator' and the problem persists.
This is a new problem after updating SW2014 to SW2015 SP0.0 64-bit. I should also mention I very recently switched computers, probably unnecessarily/redundantly moving some program files with all my part files, etc before installing corresponding software.
Intel Core i7-4790K, liquid cooled
16GB DDR3 SDRAM
NVIDIA Quadro K2200
Crucial 512 SSD
Windows 7 Pro x64
I also tried repairing Windows NET Framework and restarting.
For now I will continue to click the message away when I open things.
Thanks a bunch.
I had the same problem Ken. I had to manually type in the path. I could not drag and drop. I manually typed everything you see in your second window into my administrator cmd window.

Success! Thank you Kevin. and Steve.
Does this work while using EPDM?
Our Reseller offered us a simple fix.
REGEDIT.exe as admin
In the REGEDIT Tool, Navigate to:
Create a new DWORD Key:
RMB, Modify the Key:
Type 1. Leave it as Hexi...
Then, as Admin to your computer, you should be able to Repair the SolidWorks Install through the the Control Panel>Uninstall Tool.
Restart and you should not receive this error...
After reopening SolidWorks, you may receive the screen about the location of your toolbox. Make sure you select the folder that it properly maps to.
If using in conjunction with EPDM, after you restart, make sure all folder locations are what they ought to be. Specifically, the SEARCH PATH changed for us, and I just needed to remap it for all client machines.
Stephen, This worked for me, thanks!
For those that don't want to drag and drop (or can't) you can do the following:
Same thing here.
Thank you, Steve! That's a way faster solution than un-/re-installing SW (which I was preparing to do if my knowledge base search didn't turn up any answers).
Steve you're a champion!!, followed your instructions & did the trick thank you
Worked for me too! Thanks Sammy.
That fixed that.
I am on a shared network license and after applying the fix and restarting, my computer complained about not having a license or not finding the license, I hit ignore and when it booted up, the link to the license server was found and the problem is gone. Many thanks! Our IT guys tried a lot of other fixes related to this and I just stumbled on this by myself. Awesome fix.
you are my hero. My problem was also fixed with your help, after everything I found was about KB3072630, which was not the cause.
Thank you very much,
it's worked for me....after it, I confront with new below error:
Couldn't load sldshellutis
Do you have any solution about it?
it worked for me too, and thats a year later after u shared the solution, thanks a lot, great help
