How do I miter the single leg to the (2) 90 degree members?
Use the trim tool. Select the single leg as body to be trimmed, then use the 'face' option as the trimmers and select the two faces the single leg contacts.

You need to discard the body 2 (click on keep to set to discard)
Click on Body 1, 2 tag and it will change to discard. Then all will be right again in the world, or at least this post.
Use face to trim off.
