Hi Deepak sir,
I also have an issue regarding weights, can you please guide?
In my assembly there are 4-5 sub-assemblies. I have to prepare manufacturing drawing for all sub-assemblies & assemblies.
While preparing mfg. drawing the weight of sub-assembly is calculated through the BOM by adding weight column (which is a custom property in each part & assembly). But while preparing manufacturing drawing of assembly, the weight displayed against sub-assembly doesn't match with total weight shown in manufacturing drawing. This causes error in weight calculation. All the components refer to same material (i.e. MS).
What can be the reason? Can you please help?
You can add another column in your bom and have a formula to total the weight, weight per pc x quantity
Thanks John,
Actually total weight calculated is as weight per pc x Qty. in Assembly.
No problem is there.
But suppose if a sub-assembly A has 4 components each weighing 5 Kg. It will show total weight as 20 Kg.
But when I call this sub-assembly A in the BOM of master assembly (say, M) the weight displayed against it will be 22 kg.
This way it causes error. Because if weight is calculated per part basis, then 4 components weighs 20 kg & the same should be displayed.
I am unable to locate the cause of inflated weight.
Make sure you have the weight property (which is used in BOM) set for those components under the File properties > Configuration tab.
