defined curves not proper

Whenever I try to run a simulation in the harmonics module of linear dynamic studies I get the error "Defined curve(s) not proper". I noticed if I right click the name of the study at the top of the study parameters tree there is an option for "define function curves" but whenever I select a curve and hit ok it prompts me to save a .cwcur file (which I do) and then the simulation fails again and gives me the same error message. I've watched a few tutorials on running a harmonic simulation but no one touches on the "define function curves" functionality in their setup. How do I get this simulation to run successfully?
