The attached pictures show a video I would like to make. The first picture shows the angle that I want the module to come in at. The second picture shows the module after it makes connection with the "hinge" pulling down the other end to mate with the stand off PEMS. I have already created the pivot angle for the angle and mated them. I was wondering what would be the next and best steps to creating the exploded views to make this happen in animation. Thanks for the help.
Deepak - Thanks for the input. I am going to give this a try and see if everything works.
Deepak - In trying to do this I have come to another problem you might could help with. I have created the assembly when I am in motion studies and using animation wizard to bring in the module from the angle I used the collapse selection. This starts the assembly defined THEN removes the part the the exploded position and then returns to collapsed. I want the animation to start in the exploded position. Any ideas I will keep working on my end. Thanks.
I would mate the part where you want it to start and then use the exploded views to where you want to end up .....
You could add a configuration accordingly
John - Thanks. I was able to hide and explode the part at 0.0 seconds. Then unhide and collapse and the desired time.
Use animation wizard and select collapse. And then follow the steps to complete the wizard. You can then delete the extra keys expect the start which would be exploded view
Deepak - If I edit the angle mate in the feature tree it disrupts my relations in the model for the motion study. If I edit the angle mate in the motion study feature tree it closes the angle which I want but only for a brief period of time ( a second or less). I want to be able to control the rate of speed of the angle closing as well as the duration. Thanks.
Create a key at required time duration and at that key change the value of the angle.
Deepak - This is what I have been trying to do. I created a key frame at where the beginning of the closing sequence should start. I then created another key frame where it should end. I then edited the mate in the motion study design tree. Instead of creating a "linked" set of key frames to control duration. It left them independent of each other so the closing angle happens twice; once for each key frame placement.
When looking this problem via google. A lot of the post have said to drag the time bar to a spot on the time line where you want the movement to happen. As soon as they do this the key frames automatically populate. Mine do not however. Is there a setting or a button that might have gotten pressed unintentionally? Thanks.
Any chance if you can the assembly and components to verify and check in case you're missing any steps OR not doing it correctly.

Adding to what Deepak mentions, if you're doing a video or screen shot video, I would suggest doing it in intervals of maybe 10 steps, (more or less), this slows it down and would make for a more controlled video, with options to adjust etc...
You could create an angle mate and change its value in the animation say from 35° to 0°
OR
In exploded view, you can use the option of rotation of components (2014 What's New in SOLIDWORKS - Including Rotations in Exploded Views) and you could use that.
