Having trouble locating the software needed for the training course. My employer purchased this training course for certification and a product key for solidworks pro and the flyer/printout I was given has a unique product key but I am unable to find the download for it. I've emailed customer support and got no response. Help please.
That makes no sense. My employer paid for the training and software, the flyer says

It then says to install and activate your license for your software. So why would anyone pay for this and then only be able to use a 30 day trial program?

Sounds like you just need to activate it or rather verify that you are who you are..
The trial version will accept your serial number, and remove the 30-day time limit.

SolidWorks likes when you send them a 4 grand every 30 days
MySolidWorks professional is located at mysolidworks.com. It's SolidWorks' online training site.
Now, if a seat of SolidWorks has also been purchased then you can go to Service Packs, Simulation, PDM, 3DVIA Products, SOLIDWORKS Viewer, Free CAD Tools Downloads | Windows, Mac, Linux | SOL… to get the software. Chances are you'll have to register if you're a new customer. Once registered, you'll be able to download SolidWorks and install it on your PC.
I have already registered on the MySolidworks site, I go to the download page and it redirects me here.

Click on the link I provided in my response. Log in to the customer portal, registering if necessary. Once done, you'll be able to get to the downloads section and download the software.

Hello,
Perhaps you needed to go to solidworks.com then click support at the top. From there you can navigate to customer portal from the quick links on the right side. I had to enter my serial code there one time. Log-in then click "Register my Product". This will load the window where you type in the serial number. Hope this helps if you haven't solved the problem yet.

Your employer recently bought SolidWorks and a training package, correct? What training package did he purchase? If it's an online training course, you shouldn't need to download any software.
Where you keep mentioning certification, I'm wondering if you're not talking about SolidWorks certification which is located here, and you'd have to download the tester client to take the certification exam. However, if you're new to SolidWorks, you're not ready for an exam.
From what we're being told, its is for the online Certification Prep Course and Exam. Please understand that we are getting mixed messages from the 3rd party retailer and solidworks themselves on this issue so it has us going in circles. One says we need the software, the other says we only need it if we want to follow along in the training and do the models as the videos are showing. We were told that we'd receive the software to allow us to do so when we got the training, now we're being told we have to purchase it separate. So really, I'm as lost and confused as ever on this.

I think you're getting jacked around. Each seat of SolidWorks entitles you to one free CSWA or CSWP exam. You would only need to pay for any exams beyond the initial seat(s). Is it the reseller's own prep course that you purchased? If so, that may be why you need to download separate software. That being said, I'd be pushing for refunds and looking at other sources of prep training.
