I am designing a piece of furniture I would like to make, however I am having difficulty finding the right tool to create in 3D what you see in blue.
You can use the weldment tool to create the table. You'll have to create/modify the profiles, but if this is typical of what you design then it'd be worth it.
If you want to just use extruded features, you'll need to create the complete outline of the piece.
Select the face that is outlined in Red and insert a sketch, draw 2 diagonal line and one vertical and one horizontal line
Yes I have actually even gone to the lengths of drawing every single line in 3 dimensions. But I want a solid block of wood 2.5in/2.5in by the length of the hypotenuse. Not two lines, is there a fill option?
Thank you Jeff I will try that.
I don't quite see where you're running into trouble.
I mean you make the angle brace the same way you made the other pieces. Insert a new part using one of the outward facing surfaces of your legs as a starting plane, sketch the gusset profile. Extrude the sketch.
You've done this kind of operation on the other pieces of the table. What about this one is causing you difficulty?
John Burrill: I don't quite see where you're running into trouble.
Called training, maybe or rather lack of
Yeah I am just an engineering student right now trying to get familiar with the program. I feel like an idiot it is quite obvious I used the same method so many times before I don't know why this gave me trouble. Thank you for the help.
don't be hard on yourself. At the beginning, there's a lot of working through these scenarios. You're teaching yourself how to configure your problem solving skills. So be patient with yourself.
