I am making an assembly of a conveyor and need to position a pulley in a slot but can't get it to mate in. I need the thin cylinder of the pulley to be part of the way inside of the slot with the center of the cylinder and the center of the slot aligned. any help?
e.g. Make and use planes. to mate them. One plane in the center of the slot and use your top plane if you have it in the middle of the pulley. Or use the centerline in the slot sketch and your top plane in the pulley and another parallel mate. Top plane in the pulley and the top plane in the assembly.

Exactly.
You should be able to make a concentric mate between the thin shaft of the pulley and the radius of the slot. that should align the small shaft with the slot. (see my attachment)
Use the width mate to align the pully between the conveyor slots.
Concentric mate will work but locks the cylinder on the slot radius. A width mate worked picking the top and bottom of the slot and the face of the shaft of the pully. (that centers the pully and allows the pully to slide from right to left.)
