Ii Too would like know how to get attributes changed or linked to custom properties' .txt file
Per Solution Id: S-049870 from SOLIDWORKS knowledge base:
The Property Tab Builder will list the default property names if deleting or renaming the file “properties.txt” in the assigned folder.
No it didn't help
In fact my Property Tab Builder gets it's list from:
C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\sldPropertyTabBuilder\propNames.txt
Took me along time to find this considering the Solidworks help incorrectly points (for me anyway!) to properties.txt.
Not sure why my setup should be any different to anyone elses?, but there is absolutely no doubt about this, if I edit propNames.txt, it shows up in Property Tab Builder Names list, while my completely different properties.txt list only shows up in Solidworks properties.
In case you are wondering, yes I am sure I only have 1 properties.txt anywhere local or network:)
I have all my templates on another drive in a folder called templates, then in the options "File Location" I point everything to that folder, makes it very easy to control and update.
When you set up a new Custom Property in the Custom Property Tab Builder it adds it to the properties.txt file. I would search your drives for all txt files and delete them all except the properties.txt file and then go to the options and make sure your file location is selecting that file.
I use a different Custom Property Tab Builder file for every ECN and I edit the properties.txt file to follow the same order..
Just a reminder, when setting up a Custom Property Tab Builder file make sure that the "Show in Customs Tab" is selected, not the "Show in Configurations Tab", the difference is, Task Scheduler only updates the Custom Properties not the Configuration Properties.
Yeah, we do the same, network folder with all Solidworks templates, customization etc.
The properties.txt file is in the same folder as the template.asmprp, template.dwgprp, template.prtprp files.
That is the folder pointed to for the Solidworks file location for "Custom Properties Files".
We have no other properties.txt file anywhere, network or local.
If I edit the C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\sldPropertyTabBuilder\propNames.txt file, any changes are reflected in the drop down list in Property Tab Builder, so I am certain that that is where it gets the list from.
