    Calculating Mixing Time with Flow Simulation

      I have been able to do a CFD simulation of a stirred tank system.  Now I am interested in calculating mixing times.  I notice that the FLUENT software is able to do that. 

      Few questions

      1. Can Solidworks calculate directly or indirectly the mixing time

      2. Do you know if there is an additional thirdparty tool (in MATLAB) that can take the velocity data from solidworks and calculate mixing times?


      I have attached the Fluent presentation for reference to show what they can do.

          SolidWorks does have the capability to do RANS turbulence modeling of unsteady sliding mesh rotating regions, so you can do some of the things in that presentation. To find your mixing time  you will need to set some probes in your assembly and set the concentration as a goal so you can monitor it until it reaches the .99 criterion.

          As far as using 3rd party tools to extract flow data, I have no idea. Ask a VAR, if anybody knows they will. They might even have something for you to demo.
