Is there an easy way to copy an appearance from one part file into another part file?
Of course, a drag and drop match paintbrush would be nice.
Yes that is very easy - save the image you want in your picture file and while you have the part file open - drag the picture from explorer right on to the surface you want the image. You can also add the picture folder into your "Appearances, Scenes, and Decals Library" and click, drag & drop.....
For appearances, just drag it from the display manager from the first part and drop it to the second part.
That works - however I think J needs to create the flame or fire appearance and then yes it can be saved in the appearance folder, once there it's just drop and drag, however he would may need to change the sizes etc.....
Use the right-mouse click menu
I will have to give it another try.
I have frequently copied and pasted appearances between faces in a single part - but couldn't get it to work in my trial between 2 different parts.
I think you are right, however if you are in a part file, you can easily go from one surface to another like Kelvin is showing, however I think what you need is finding a picture you want to use and put it in your appearance library.
I did a lot of art work with SW, but it has been a while now..
I am able to copy & paste between different parts using the method Kelvin suggests. The only thing you have to be wary of is the pop up box that appears when you drop the appearance asking where you want it applied. If you don't click an option the appearance isn't applied.
Copy & Paste according to Kelvin suggestion is OK,
BUT you have to pay attention you select the correct selection from the pop-up box (face/body/parts/..) afterwards, otherwhise none is applied.
Ummm!! that's exactly what I just said
I have to stop reading diagonaly thru posts
