I have a drawing with several extra revision symbols. I'd like to delete them. However, ALL the revision symbols disappear when I try to delete the first of the offenders.
Is there a toggle for this?
I've just been using the triangle balloons put in a special layer for revisions because the built in revision system is so glitchy and difficult to use.
Yes, I *was* doing the same thing. Apparently that is frowned upon in this establishment! :-)
Hey, not our fault the revision marking system in solidworks is so messed up! We have a few drawings where we tried to impliment revision tables, and every time somebody has tried to update them, fix them, up the rev, or anything else there is a bunch of arguing and annoyed people trying to figure out why they can't do X or Y with it. We like to track *ALL* rev changes, but it erases old rev marks for the new rev, etc.
If your company has a VAR with tech support I'd push the issue up to them, they may then either give a solution or push it off to solidworks as a glitch, and you get to go back to whatever.
I don't have a problem deleting one symbol. When I do, I get a message asking if I want to delete the corresponding row. If you click no, only one symbol goes away.
If you've hit don't show again in the past, that may be the problem. It automatically deletes the entire row.
If that is the case, just have it show the message again under options/messages.
Hope this helps.
There are TWO popups that have to be cleared to remove one symbol; very annoying. The only option given is to not show the warning again. That could mean mistakenly clearing away many details that are out of view. Bah.
This was a good attempt, but it still didn't work.
I figured out how to get that pop-box to show again, but it didn't help. Selecting 'No' still deleted all of the revisions, not just the extra one. I've finally just reverted to pulling it off the page and letting it hang out in space. How ridiculous.
Oh c'mon, isn't that a little harsh? It is only 2018, after all...
If you have time submit this to your VAR and post back the SPR on this thread when it gets generated. This is a ONE and TWO issue and should get taken care of ahead of adding new features to SWX.
I tried it on my end and its working.
In first dialog it asks " Do you wish to delete corresponding revision table?" > Select "NO"
In second dialog it asks "Do you wish to delete corresponding revision symbols?" > Select "NO"
It only deletes the symbol we want to delete.
Additionally, if you ever checked the "Don't show again" checkbox:
Then you can get this dialog back by going here:
You might want to try this macro. I did not write it but it works pretty good.
I'm on SolidWorks 2015 SP5. It works really good for me. I have no problems at all using revision table system provided by SW.
When needed to delete just one symbol, select it (LMB) and strike the "Delete" button.
Then, you'll be asked 2 questions. Say "No" to both.
I think the second question is not very well set up. The "revision symbol" is intended "revision symbol row".
For clarity I let the software to show the pop-up frame all the time.
I know it could be annoying, but delete a revision symbol doesn't happen very often, so I decided I can cope with it.
Second question is to delete all symbols from sheet which are linked to that revision, but not deleting the row in table.
So, if we select "Yes" for first question it will delete row from table, and if we select "yes" for second question it will only delete symbols, not the row.
If you want to delete only one symbol, its same as you said " select it (LMB) and strike the "Delete" button. Then, you'll be asked 2 questions. Say "No" to both."
Yes, you're right!
