I have an imported file with a little over 8000 surfaces. The file is big and hard to work with. I find myself waiting 20 miniutes for import diagnostics to try to run and ultimately end up terminating the program because it locks up. Im sure its still working but I can't sit there and wait any longer. I need a way to manage all of those surfaces or simplify them somehow so I can use this part.
Shane, I can feel your pain
You can use Feature Freeze all the way down and your part will be more manageable in the part and the assembly.
If you want to get rid of the errors it comes with you could bring the Feature Freeze down where the first error starts and use the rollback bar from bottom up. I opened up a part with 3000+ surfaces E.g. I had error in surface 2742 and healed it. After you have fixed your errors you can bring the Feature Freeze all the way down. See image.
I opened the file in SW 2014 as 95 Mb .sat file. After i did what I described I saved it as part, file size 20,5 Mb. Opened the part in SW 2015, saved it again with file size 17.9 Mb.
