Hi Everyone,
We've got a shared tool box in our PDM Vault (I don't think that will be relevant for this). I'd very much like to add our company part numbers to the configurations (let's use Socket Head Cap Screws for example). The toolbox has 1000's of configs, and we have 100's of part numbers to match some of them. However, I'd like a way to automatically update the toolbox configurations with a part number from an excel file.
I know that I can manually add in this information one at a time either in the tool box settings program or in Solidworks once a part has been inserted, but why do that when tinkering with Macros is so much more fun?
I think I'll have to somehow use excel cell strings to create a configuration name string and use that to find and open and modify configuration properties based on the configuration properties (i.e. Size [M4], Length [12]). But there may be a better way to go about this. Is it as simple as treating the toolbox part as a normal part w/ configurations?
