small question do you think that somebody from solidw works will upgrade routing parts database on SW content web? If I compare database from inventor there are also standards DIN and other these parts are still not in Solid works (I cannot accept parts on SW content it is 9 year old) ISO gen is not able to generat correct iso metric drawings from SW ANSI routing parts and DIN ? I think that in SW forgot that not only US atandards are using in routing system and Inventor is in that case a few steps ahead. For me is quiet complicated to explain our bosses that Routing is practicaly the same like ten years ago it why we finished to pay support from SW .
Jan,
I would suspect that most of us have made our own library because of the many differences depending on Norm, Supplier, country and needs by the company using the parts. What might be very interesting for you could very well be humbug for me and vice versa.
They do provide a little starter library but that is more to show you how to make it yourself.
E.g. I use thin walled SS pipe ISO norm, PVC-C, PVC-U, HDPE, PP, HVAC steel and PVC. With anything from butt welded, socket welded, threaded and flanged connections. Threads according to BSP unless it's NPT. All items in the library have been made by my colleagues or myself.
I for one have no interest whatsoever in Isogen and we do very nicely without it thank you very much.
Routing does support Isogen, according to the helpfiles but it's other thing you have to set up yourself.
The fact remains that if you think that once you install the program and adjust some settings that you are good to go then you're very much mistaken. I've been using SW Routing for 6 years now and there has been significant improvements in how the program handles certain things.
Of course it would be nice if SW provided all fittings of all diameters in all materials from all suppliers according to all norms straight out of the box but that won't ever happen.
