What is the best way to create a perforated material? In my case, perforated sheet metal (304 SS).

If I go about it the "brute force" way and literally model every hole, my PC bogs down and even crashes sometimes.

Is there a way to do this more efficiently?

I'm more concerned with it actually appearing perforated (in both the model and the drawing)
