Our customer has a tank. The tank end on top is a geodesic isotensoid (i.e., not exactly a sphere). They wrap tape around the tank in a spiral. Assume the tape cannot bend the hard way, only the easy way. This means the length of each side will not change as the tape is laid down. Is there a way to leverage SolidWorks features to define the path the tape will take as it leaves the cylinder section and lays down on the tank end?
I solved this by making a rope ladder out of splines. More rungs-> more accuracy. It's a shame you can't make spline handle perpendicular to something.
