The attached shows what I thought was going to be a pretty simple part to model - it's nothing more than a cylinder cut by a plane. I need to convert this to sheet metal but can't figure out a way to do this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Insert your bending prior to doing the surface cut, then it should work.
I just noticed when you flatten the part with a surface cut it really gets screwy, remove the surface cut and using the same plane that you did the surface cut insert a sketch with an over size rectangle/square and do a through all cut - then you should have a good part

I get a screwy flat pattern regardless of whether I use a Surface Cut or an Extruded Cut. Did your flat pattern work properly with an Extruded Cut?

As far as I know it looked good for the sheet metal application. One thing that happens is SW automatically makes the edges square, so you may need to alter the sketch for the cut accordingly
