That seems a lot more involved to do what you want it to, basically like i was using AutoCAD again. So there isn't a way to have it on when using From/To with a point selected?
When the From/To option is used, the selected points are finite. How can the Repeat option be used when there are no more points to repeat to?
The X/Y option effectively specifies a distance and direction for the Repeat process.
If you click the pin icon next to the red cross above the entities to copy selection box this enables the copy function to remain open for multiple copy selection.
Ben Carter was going in the right direction. Click the push pin icon to keep the command active. Then (for SW 2016) I had to click the X/Y option, then back to the from/to option and then the repeat button activated. Then you can use copy entities point by point.

I agree it's a bit odd (as move/copy body has this ability-see edit). However you could use a Linear Sketch Pattern Instead.
The workflow would be slightly different, here I added a fixed constraint on the corner of the first instance, but this could just be coincident to any point. It's a flexible technique as there are lots of ways to control it. eg add a constraint to the last instance or delete the pattern relation and make everything free.
