I have a SW 2015 version part file.
How do I convert it to SW 2014?
Look a glance at it. May be it will be useful.
In order to open a future version file in a older version , then you need you nee you convert into a neutral format file . In SOLIDWORKS 2013 , you can use parts and assemblies from the current release of the SOLIDWORKS software as components of an assembly in Service Pack 5 of the previous release.
Interoperability is only supported between consecutive releases. For example, you cannot open a SOLIDWORKS 2014 file in SOLIDWORKS 2012 Service Pack 5.
In Service Pack 5 of the previous release, in an assembly, you can do the following:
In multi-configuration models, for each configuration that you want to access in the older release, configuration data must first be generated and saved in the newer release.
This is applicable only with 2013 and 2012 SP 5.0. For other Versions only way is to saving as a Neutral file format such as IGES, Step, ParaSolid.
After Saving as Neutral format, You can open the file in Older version and also you can do Feature recognition on your file in order to extract your Feature Manager Design Tree.
I Think this will be useful!!!
Thanks & Regards,
The only way is you have to Convert to e Neutral format and open it in Older version and perform Feature Works .
The problem with this method is that things like equations, table design etc are lost.
If you need to get the same design table , then You can save it externally and insert in The Older version file which is converted.
Good idea thanks...but lots of trouble.
Wonder why SW did provide backward compatibility.
