I have a top level BOM using solid works file names instead
ofnumbers (these show correctly) but when I go to balloon
myassemblies it is placing the part file name instead of the
assemblyfile name. (We do not use 1,2,3 etc. but instead we use the
solidworks file names in our balloons.) My assembly configurations
have"do not show child components when used as asub-assembly"
checked. Has anyone else run into this? Doesanyone else know of a
fix? Thanks

I think the reason you haven't gotten any answers is that nobody understands the question. I know I don't.
For instance:
"When you go to "tag" your assemblies..."
What does "tag" mean? Balloon, add item numbers, add a note?
What does ..."tag your assemblies" mean? Normally, on an assembly drawing with a BOM, you add item numbers or ballons to the individual components & sub-assemblies that make up your assembly.
please clarify and I'm sure you'll receive more help.
