Even without a hatch in the way I don't believe you can box select multiple edges in a drawing view. I think you need to select them one at a time.
I think that is what I am finding out. I would just leave them but it makes the pdf have "fat edges".
I found a way. In the section use edge filter and don't selece everything, only half, and it won't affect the hatch.
