Can something such as an OBJ, .max or 3ds file type be used? I want to run flow simulation on some files but they only come in those 3 file types. I believe there is a chance of an .fbx file. Any help is greatly appreciated!
2014 SOLIDWORKS Help - Importing/Exporting SolidWorks Documents
This is what I had originally found: CAD Import and Export | SOLIDWORKS
But I was wondering if the file types I listed are suitable to use in Simulation. And the link I sent doesn't seem to match what you listed, unless I just don't know the full name of the extensions. I'm not saying you're wrong, just trying to figure out what's actually correct.

file extensions: .x_t, .x_b, .xmt_txt, xmt_bin, .igs, .iges, .sat, .step,.stp, .vda, .wrl, .stl, .cgr, .3dm,
Once you have the files in Solidworks I think you can use any add-in. If not you export them as SW parts and then import them again.
if you can get it into solidworks, simulation will use it
