CAD models are created by points in 3D space and then lines that join them, then followed by surfaces and lastly filled it to become volume.
So if a part has many surfaces, the amount of computation power requires to analyse the part becomes enormous.
Switch your part to wireframe view and if you see messy lines in your part, this could meant what I have said.
Alternatively what you can do to produce a porous model is to use a cosmetic surface and applied it to your part. Exaclty the same way how screw threads are applied to simplfiy threaded features.
If I were to model a porous part, I would google for a picture that best fit my requirements. You can create a sample by modelling them out. Then I would save into my local drive as image file and apply them to my part using advance appearance.

If the pores are modeled most likely the issue is the amount of Graphics Triangles used to generate the geometry
