I'd like to know a practical way to model for heat sink simulation. Is it not practical to model heat sink as heat sink with fins? If an actual heat sink is modeled, how are fan inlet and outlet faces best defined?
are you talking about a heat sink with a fan? why not use the built in heat sink simulator?
I am aware of the Heat Sink Simulation feature in Flow Simulation, and have used it quite extensively. Sometimes, having the actual heat sink model consumes a lot of resources. I want to know if having just a rectangular block is the same as having an actual heat sink model.
but you could do something in the middle like a porous medium.
Thanks for the tip.
