What is the best way to handle parts libraries?

We have many parts that are standard, purchased parts that we useover and over in many assemblies. I know that you can specifya folder in the VaultAdmin for these parts. I assigned afolder on the vault computer and put parts into it but they do notshow up in the vault. I selected 'do not allow check-in oflibrary parts' in the VaultAdmin as SW reccomends so I cannot justcheck them in normally. Should I enable check in, check theparts in and then disable this? How are people handleingtheir standard parts libraries?

additionally, in sw, make sure the folder is listed a design library folder.
(tool>options>file locations>design library)

once the aforementioned is set, then the vault Library Components project will look something like attached jpeg.

  Sorry I don't quite understand. How do I get the part to showup like yours do in the library? Thanks for including the JPG, atleast now I know what it is supposed to look like

    in pdmw admin, you set a standard library folder, correct?
    
    in sw, set that same folder as a design library folder (it will show up in your task pane>design library)
    
    after these options are set, it should work as desired.
    
    when checking in, you'll see the design library icon on components located in design library folder.
    during the checkin process, you'll know right away whether you are set up correctly.
    
    however, if a document was previously checked in (revision controlled) AND you have, at a later date, changed it to a design library component, then it will continue to be revision controlled. in this case, the document must be deleted from vault in order to establish it as a non-revisioned managed document. bear in mind the consequences of deleting documents from vault.
    
    EDIT: I just noticed this in your original inquiry.
    The Library Components project does not populate itself automatically.
    The Library Components project will be populated as each component is used in an assy and said assy is checked in.

      I'm having one more problem...
      When you have an assembly open and you select a subassembly and hit'add to library' how do you get the parts in the subassembly to gowith it to the library? I tried hitting the 'references' button atthe bottom of the dialog and changing the parts so that theyreferenced the design library folder but this did not seem to work.

        i have trouble with this as well.
        
        i manually copy/move any parts/assemblies to design library folders BEFORE using in an assembly.
        
        once parts/assemblies are in design library folder, delete all other instances (locally and elsewhere).
        
        if you open an assembly and it can't find a component you can browse to design library and point to the referenced file's location. once this assembly is saved it will not ask for location again.
