I was just why my part showed as an actual solidworks part , while others showed as a part file symbol. It's a pain while picking a particular part or assembly to open.
Where are these parts from?
old files copied from someone else s drive
is the one showing a new file you created? more info needed from you.
sometimes old file (versions) will act this way, you may have to open and re-save to get the pic.
also set the preview plane on windows explorer so when you select the file it will show pic in there.
There's a SW system option for this:
Lenny: it's a recent solidworks file.
Mark: tried that, it doesn't work.
I've called Solidworks--they said it's a bug in SW 2015---They're trying to fix it right now.
Definitely a Bug - I see that almost everyday, no pain for me if I am working on that assembly, cause you do get familiar with the parts and numbering etc... But........ If they ask me to open a part that I haven't opened in months or ever, then it's a different story..........
