I was told that there is an equation that solidworks uses to determine if a surface can become a solid, I was wondering if anyone knows what this is?
It depends on what type of feature you are using to convert it into a solid. Are you talking about knitting surfaces that enclose a volume to form a solid? Or the thicken feature? For thicken I think the main criteria is that the minimum concave radius of curvature in the direction of the thicken should be greater than the thickness.
I'm looking for the mathematical equation that runs in the background of solidworks, so i don't think the operation matters.
