swept boss/extend profile sketch

I have an imported part with a hexagonal (for lack of a better term) profile that is, as far as I can tell, on an arc. I am looking to keep this hexagonal profile, extend it, using the arc as a profile. In all honesty I am not sure if I am even on the right path or using the correct methods or functions

I have been able to get as far as getting my sketch plane where I want it and getting the profile setup. The trouble I am having is using the part as a guide curve and extending it to the sketch plane (screen shot below). I have profile views of the part attached.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for:

you can mirror the part using the face closest to plane1 and then cut with the plane1 if that is the look you are going for.

Create a spline on front plane using original import and then mirror the spline. I was able to use the spline to do a sweep of the part. Then cut the sweep with plane1.

Can you attach the *.sldprt file here rather than images?

Should be pretty easy to project (Convert Entities) the curve onto a 2D path sketch.

part attached.

I was able to do the convert entities on the part and generate a curve... I just dont know how to extend that profile beyond the converted entity, if that makes sense.

Some easy quick solutions may be these. Your Plane1, if that's where you want the new end face to be located at then try using the Replace Face command. First create a planar surface on Plane1. Then open replace face command, in the top field box select the end face of the part body, the bottom field box select the planar surface, click yes, then delete the planar surface body. Or try the Move Face command, extend it a bit beyond what you want, chop it to the length you want. Or create a swept boss.

I tried replace face and it does not let me select the plane I've added. I also struggled with the move face.

I think swept boss is what I am after - I just dont know how to extend the guide curve to my plane. As far as I can tell it's a spline and not a nice circle with a center point I can reference off of.

The projected curve is not a simple arc, so a bit more work will be needed to determine the design intent.

There was no additional geometry in the file you attached that might help indicate exactly where you want that face to go when extended.

Ideally 5mm-10mm; however, if I knew exactly what I was doing I could adjust as necessary.

that seemed to the do the trick and looks like the geometry is correct! Thank you Dennis!
