Hi, does anyone know anything about making race cars? I'm struggling on making a race car monocoque. I find making the tubular chassis easy but I cant work out how to make a monocoque?
Lwazi,.. to get started and make it easier, open a new part and reference that frame by creating a "Insert / Part".
After you have that data inserted, you can omit/cut/hide/move what you need/want and focus on the areas of concern,
Or, if you want to break the link or remove the past parametrics, export/save the entire frame as a Parasolid X_T and re-import .
How much training and experience do you have?
You are attempting an advanced design requiring significant training and experience.
I've had a few years experience, I can usually do most things but I cant work out how the surfaces are made for this type of constructions
There is a race car project in the tutorials/education section of the SW website. I've never dug through it, though.
Thanks I've tried, it's just their car doesn't have loads of components to work through like mine has
Can you attach the *.sldprt file of what you have attempted so far?
I'm trying to use this for reference geomety, I wanna create a monocoque to replace this chassis without having to delete the other components of the car
I don't know how to add parts directly onto this site but here's the link to the soliworks file
but here's the link from google drive.

You can start with not trying to do everything in one feature. It will often require more than a loft or a boundary surface to accomplish what you want with the control you want, though the result can appear to be done with one feature and is tempting to do so. Start with what you want to control and how, then create a sketch controlling those profiles or size/shapes. Then use the 3-4 sides to create a loft or boundary surface. Then move onto the next 3-4 sided segment, if there is one, for the next portion of your body piece and so on.
Ye I've tried using a few different features and everytime I think I have a breakthrough something goes wrong
