Automate Drawing a Part Through or Around a 3D Mesh

Hi,

 

As shown in the attached drawing, I'm attempting to take a 3D mesh from a scan and either draw piping through it or around it.  I've been doing it manually, but was wondering if there's a way to automate or simplify this process.
