I tried to make a render today and the preview screen comes up, then goes away within a second. It does this repeatedly until I close the program. Also, it's doing it in SW2015 and 2014. Any ideas?
Logging in as another user didn't help, so I uninstalled and re-installed SW. It looks like it's working now.
Have you been able to render before this or is this the first time you have tried to do a Photoview render? If you have not rendered before, it sounds like a graphics card error.
I've been rendering on the same computer since I started working here in 2011. I checked and it looks like aero glass is on too.
PhotoView is a CPU-based app, so if your video card is suitable for Solidworks, it shouldn't be a factor in Photoview.
However, you should run Solidworks Rx, just to make sure you don't have a problem displaying multiple application windows.
I had a something similar to this happen on an older computer. In my case, the system was just so underpowered that it couldn't get to the point where it loaded the render preview without exhausting all of the RAM. But in your case, it sounds like there's a problem attaching to the photoview process-which usually points to a registry or installation error. My suggestion would be to first, try logging in as a different user and run Photoview from there. If you don't have any issues, than your account registry has probably become corrupt and you should delete and recreate the user account in Windows.
If you have the problem when logged on as another user and SolidWorks Rx says your hardware is up to the task, I'd then try uninstalling SolidWorks and re-installing it. It sounds like a subsequent program install may have updated a library that SolidWorks uses but not registered it correctly.
Let us know how it works out.
