Why would a drawing file open with a different part number when opening in a viewer?
Why would a drawing file open with a different part number when opening in a viewer?
Kelvin,
eDrawing x64 Viewer addition 2014 or 2015.
After the customer supplied .slddrw file is opened in either the
eDrawing x64 Viewer addition 2014 or 2015, the print number we see doesn’t match
the file part number. We do have a seat of Solid works & when the same file
is opened in our Solid Works work station it again opens to the same incorrect
p/n for about 2 seconds then it suddenly opens the print for the part indicated
by the file p/n.
Yes, the Model p/n correctly matches the file name.
I have just now discovered that the EPDM Versions do NOT match between the Viewer print & the Solid Works work station print. Does this mean that the customer did not send the correct file?
Thanks,
Steve
I'm pretty sure it has to do with what I mentioned in my original reply. When they saved the slddrw file it had a certain part number in it linked to the part model. Then later they changed the custom property in the part model to a different part number. When you view the drawing in eDrawings it shows you the original part number that was in the part when the drawing was saved. When you open it in SW it is loading the latest info form the part model, so it updates to the new part number.
Maybe the part file reference in the drawing has changed since the last time the drawing was opened. A viewer like eDrawings will show the drawing as it appeared the last time it was saved. But if you open the drawing in SW then it will load the part(s) and refresh any notes that are linked to custom properties.
It shouldn't!
Can you be more specific about what you are seeing? Can you post screen captures?
Which viewer?
Drawing part number?
Model part number?
