At the bottom of the tree click the + mark beside flatten and unsuppress the the feature.
I cannot get the whole part to flatten only certain areas...
When in flatten mode, like my first picture in my first answer. Check if you have anything suppressed (grayed out) under the flat pattern. If you do right click on it and select unsuppress, like Tony suggested.
THIS IS THE ERROR I GET:

This is strange, I´m opening it in SW 2013 and flattening it with no problems.
What part of it has errors and can not be flattened ? Can you post a picture ?
It works fine in 2014 and 2015 as well.

If I had not opened it in SW 2013 with no problems to flatten it. I would have suggested that you would use normal cut everywhere. Especially when you are crossing a bend with a cut like this, see image.
Fully defined sketches are also a good practice.

I didn't draw this, I imported it using BobCad and then saved as a STP to import to SW because my version of SW will not open it...although it is the same version (2012) I have 2015 sitting here on my desk for 2 weeks...2WEEKS! You think I can get IT over here to install it?? Think again...I don't even understand why those clowns are here. Had to vent.
I've put in a call to SW to see if they can help me install the 2015. Thanks for all your help.

bit late to the party, but-
opened fine on first attempt(flattened that is)
SW13 Premium x64
other than earlier comments nothing wrong to me
try a restart of PC and/or SW
and reload to see if this helps

Try this file Karen. I took you second file deleted everything up to fillet9 then converted the solid model to sheet metal. select the flat-pattern1 at the very bottom and then select unsuppress and it should flatten. Hope this helps Tom
Are you talking about something else then your attached part that flattens fine?
