What's the best way to create/input a specific hole thread into a part? I don't see thread options under the hole wizard.
We're using Solidworks 2014 Standard version.
Do you mean you want to actually cut the threads? If so, you'll have to create the thread profile and do a swept cut along a helical path. Otherwise, my hole wizard has a slew of thread sizes to choose from so I don't know why yours wouldn't...
Once the hole wizzard is open there is a drop down box on the left side of your screen to select the thread under "Hole Specifications"
Not to take this off-topic, but you should familiarize yourself with the power of the 'S' key and get rid of all those toolbars. Unless, of course, you are familiar with the 'S' key and prefer all the toolbars.
Yeah, I'm kinda old school, I have my "s" key programmed to save my file. And I'm still a fan of the tool bar. They aren't so bad if you've got the screen space anyway. Thanks for the tip anyway.
Here is a Discussion about threads that you might find helpful: Threading Options .
So I now see the thread options under the hole wizard.. But like Jeff said, and Glenn's "Threading Options" link said, if I want to actually show the thread cuts, I would have to manually do it (model them)..
Yes, with a swept cut.
