What are some best practices concerning patterns?
Not sure what for answer you are expecting, one thing, it's good to have the patterns at the end of your feature tree if you can, but sometimes its' not possible, because you may need a feature coming off of the pattern geometry etc....
Patterns in a Part or Assembly?
1. Make sure that if you're patterning a body you have Bodies to Pattern selected instead of the default Features to Pattern.
1. Use sketch geometry or an axis that is stand-alone in the Assembly (not dependent on a Part) for the direction for a Linear Pattern. Using a Part edge is fine until that Part is edited and the edge reference is lost. Then your pattern will blow up on you.
2. Unless it's unavoidable, don't Mate to a Part that's brought into the assembly with a Pattern. That will often cause instability and Mate problems that can only be fixed with frequent rebuilds.
If I think of others I'll post again.
At least "Now you know" lol
Geometry patterns rebuild about 10x faster than feature patterns.
