I think there's a bug in the fill pattern feature. I create my sketch, and enter all of my parameters for the pattern and everything works fine. However if I need to go back and edit my anything, all of my values in the feature change.

Its strange because the new values are always the same and I have no idea where they come from. Anyone else have this problem? Solution? Work around? I have two other fill patterns on the same part and neither of them do this.
When I click "edit feature" the values are changed. I change them back, check "ok", hit rebuild, and I get an error saying the pattern failed to generate.
That's strange. I guess I would delete it and try to make a new fill pattern. On second though, make sure you don't have any equations that might be messing up the values.
I too have the same issue with a fill pattern, I am using no equations just a simple hole and a rectangle to fill. If I use a 'cut extrude' for the hole feature the fill pattern will generate okay at first but as soon as I go to edit anything or rebuild the part it will fail and the settings revert to a 2000mm pitch at 57degrees or similar. To work around this I have used the 'hole wizard' to add the hole instead of the 'cut extrude' this then regenerates fine.
Would like to bump this post up again. I'm having the same issue even if i use the hole feature. I'm using the fill pattern on a sheet metal part.
Can you post a part which exhibits the problem, for testing on other machines?
Just made a random part to show my issue. This is what I am trying to do.
the first time it makes it fine.
Then i do another feature or rebuild and this happens every time.
And here is the file.
Opened the file, reset the dimensions, saved, closed, reopened, and edited the pattern ... and all was fine. Nothing changed.

Strange. My coworker has the same issue. We are both running 2015 sp4. even if he makes the part from scratch and not use my file It still happens.
I feel your pain what I've found that worked for me is use what I call a steering entity
and that has solved past problems for me you'll see it marked in the file I sent.
I should have added my second file also between these two I've found no other fix,
it seem you need to pick or make the simplest border you can even if you pick just a
face, I believe this one file if you look at the picked face the out line is very complicated
in SW's view for applying the pattern with the overlapped bend and notches.

Looks to me like some people do not have an issue with your file and some people do have an issue. I'm wondering if the "windows update" around 7/14/2015 has any thing to do with this. I has created all kinds of issues including equation problems for those that installed (upgrade to a new service pack or new install) after the windows update. I have no problems with your file Kevin.

You will notice that all the fill pattern data is stored in the equation manager.
Try a very simple test. Sketch a line and add a dimension to it. Edit the dimension and begin an equation =xx.xx/2 and see if that takes. If the equation takes and you end up with an equations symbol this may not be your issue.
I'm pretty sure that the problems you are having do not have anything to do with how you went about creating the fill pattern.
The test gives me the equation symbol.

Have you found a workaround for the fill pattern error? I'm running into the same issue running SW 2015 SP3.0
My work-around usually involves yelling, cursing, and throwing things until it works. Sometimes it helps.

I have the exact same problem. I ended up creating a new part (since it wasn't a very complicated part), and it works fine. I did it the same way as the broken one, so I have no idea why one was erroring and not the other.
I had my VAR try to help me with this. They ended up telling me to just use 2 linear patterns instead of the fill pattern.
Frustrating.
And if you wanted to use a different type pattern????
I have had the same issue today and I found a solution. What I did was I created a filler pattern just like what everyone here did. Then, without doing anything else, I saved my solidworks model and closed it. Make sure to close all the solidworks assemblies that have the model you are working on as well. Simply reopen the model and you should be able to edit the filler pattern freely without any problems.
When I typed "filler pattern", I was referring to "fill pattern". Sorry for the typo.
Do those values change as soon as you start editing the fill pattern, or does it all change after you modify one of the values?
