When designing a spring (compression or extension) and putting a load on it in simulation to check the stresses is it necessary to have the non-linear solidworks simulation premium package?  Or can I use the static linear analysis, add a load, and do a simple stress plot to get accurate results?  It seems like as long as the spring isn't deforming permanently a linear analysis should work?  Can anyone explain to me why it wouldn't work?
