2006 Client not finding PDM Server?

We just setup a new PC with SW 2006 SP5.1 and PDM Works. The new PCis unable to login to the vault. It appears that it cannot see orfind the vault. Any thoughts?

is the vault located on localhost or server?

if localhost, type "localhost" for vault computer in login box.
if server, type server "name" or "ip address" for vault computer in login box.
do not use unc with server name.

  I do have the Vault server name in the login box.
  
  I've been told that since we purchased 2007 but installed 2006using the the 2007 serial number that the vault does not recognizedthe client.
  
  The recommendation was to uninstall 2006 and reinstall using a 16digit 2006 serial number.
